Books and Films

Whole-foods focused, tasty recipes with beautiful photos and fun party ideas.
I don’t eat entirely paleo (or entirely anything, really), but I like a lot of the recipes, especially for meatballs.

Lisa Leake’s blog is super helpful and her cookbook is equally simple and practical.

This documentary is a great introduction to the food industry and the effect of processed foods.

This documentary is like Super Size Me, but for sugar. This guy eats 40 teaspoons a day to see what happens. Spoiler alert: it’s not good.

This documentary focuses mostly on childhood obesity, but I found it incredibly motivating.

What a great message: “Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.” This book manages to be both informative and engaging.

I do not necessarily believe in cutting out all wheat, but I learned a lot about the effect of carbohydrates on the body from this book.

I haven’t read this one yet, but it’s on my list. There is also a related docu-series streaming on Netflix.

Kitchen Essentials

Hamilton Beach Stay-or-Go Slow Cooker. Affordable, effective, and easy to clean. No frills, but works great!
Cuisinart Mini-Chopper. Makes chopping onions and other veggies a breeze. Also great for making a serving or two of banana “nice cream.”

S’ip by S’well Stainless Water Bottle. I own several reusable water bottles, but this one is my favorite. It’s insulated and I love the way it feels in my hand. More colors available, too!

Silicone-coated whisk set. When my husband got me new pans for Christmas, I immediately ordered these whisks to avoid scratches, and I’ve never looked back!

Glass bottles. I like to fill these with filtered water to put on the table during dinner. I also keep one near our coffee machine for quick access on busy mornings.

Oxo Good Grips Can Opener. I hated my old can opener, but this one is great! I’m a lefty, and it’s still comfortable and easy to use.

Cleaning and Organization Products

Roll out cabinet organizer (various sizes). I have two of these in my pantry and plan to put more under our bathroom sinks. I installed them myself and love them!
Method Daily Shower Cleaner. I hate scrubbing the tub and shower, but this keeps buildup away between cleanings.

Mrs. Meyers Lemon Verbena basics set. Lemon Verbena is my favorite Mrs. Meyers scent, and this Amazon Prime bundle is an especially great deal.

Electronics organizer by BUBM. My friend got me one of these for my birthday, and it’s AMAZING. It fits my Mophie (mophie Powerstation 5X Dual USB External Battery for Smartphones and Tablets (10,000 mAh) – Aluminum) and lots of other cables and chargers.

Microfiber cleaning cloths. I use one color in the kitchen, one in the bathroom, one for glass, and one for dusting.

Dyson V6 Animal Cordless Vacuum. I never thought I’d be a Dyson vacuum kind of girl, but this vacuum makes is SO easy to clean the stairs and couches and, to be honest, I prefer it to my full-sized vacuum. The motorized mini-tool that comes with the “Animal” version is especially great for cleaning the carpet in the car.
